kids with bad manners and clear duct tape

Sunday, September 26th, 2004

kids with bad manners suck. Actually, the parents suck more than the kids. Damn parents need to teach their kids some manners. You would think at 10, 11, 12 years old parents would have taught their kids not to scream “I want (insert whatever it is kid wants)” OVER AND OVER AND OVER again isn’t going to get them what they want. Very often I have kids scream “CLOWN LADY I WANT A BALLOON! I WANT A DOGGIE BALLOOON! I WANT A DOGGIE BALLOON! I WANT A DOGGIE BALLOON! I WANT A BALLOON!! AGHHHH!!!” Now imagine 10 kids screaming this to you.
Luckly I only had to do one party this weekend.

Now I have time to make my friend Graydo a duct tape wallet with a picture of a llama in it. Clear duct tape is the greatest invention in the land.

Good Deals

Milk
Yaeka and I went on a long quest for a new pan today and while we ended up not actually buying a pan we got a damn good deal on milk. While walking around Fred Meyer’s, I noticed this guy walking around with two half-gallons of milk and said, man, that’s weird, there must be a good deal on milk. Well you know what? There was a really good deal on milk! I know it is kind of sad that I find this worthy of blogging about, but it was buy one get one free on half-gallons and they didn’t expire until like October 13th. That’s a really good deal!

Coast to Coast AM
While technically free for anyone with an AM radio, I’ve been thinking about getting their streamlink service for a while and I got it tonight because it was such a good deal. Only $6.95 a month and you get access to downloadable MP3 files of the past 30 days worth of shows and can stream the shows since July of 2002. Along with that there is a full show overview with each set of downloads/streams with links and things so you know what it is all about. I’ve been a big fan of Coast to Coast AM since I accidentally discovered it many years ago during my long cross-country road trips. I remember listening to Art Bell’s last show as the full-time host on my way back to Colgate following a winter break and also introducing Flynn to it on our way back from Toronto with Marty. A lot of the callers are kind of crazy, but it’s really entertaining to hear people call in and ask Nader about using the Air Force to protect us from UFOs.

Mother earth haters and customer service

Saturday, September 18th, 2004

The old lady who used to live in my condo subscribed to all these catalogs:

Coldwater Creek
Harriet Carter
Jmarco
JJill
Draper’s and Damons
LL Bean
Eddie Bauer

I have lived here for 6 months and have succesfully unsubscribed fromonly JJill, Eddie Bauer, and Jmarco. I have requested all the above companise to take me off their lists however I am still being bombarded with their shit. The amount of paper I put in the recyle bin on a daily basis is so incredible ridiculous. Why do these companies not understand that I am not a old lady and their clothing does not fit my lifestyle! I will never purshase anything from them. All these companise (except Eddie Bauer) can go suck it for being paper wasters and mother earth haters.
When I made my request to Eddie Bauer I was sent a very nice response from them saying that they appreciated my efforts to reduce paper waste and that I can continue to enjoy their products online.
I really appreciate a company with excellant customer service.

Seattle is number one…

Saturday, September 18th, 2004

So I haven’t adjusted any of my default internet explorer settings since I installed XP on my system because I don’t use it, but I opened it today and was greeted by an image of the Seattle skyline followed by “Most Overprice Places in 2004″. Apparently I live in the most overpriced metro areas in the US. Full article here.

Major life decision

Tuesday, September 14th, 2004

Okay not really a life decision and more like a major fashion decision. I think it is time to consider some patterns in my life. My co-worker called me plain today. I personally think I look more professional than many of my co-workers but does my clean cut tailored look in 4 colors make me dull! Maybe she is right.
At first I thought that I may need to introduce more accesories into my life. I contemplated allowing those trendy bows into my wardrobe however I really am not a bow kind of gal. I also half considered those ridiculose fabric flowers but I am really not a flowery kind of girl either. I think patterns are the only thing that will diversify and un-dullify my wardrobe. Maybe a white button up with red stripes or maybe somthign with a little argyl? I hope this seasons fashion can add some variety to my life.
