TV Thursday Disaster

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

So Yaeka and I used to have super awesome TV Tuesdays with The Gilmore Girls at 8PM, My Name Is Earl at 9PM, and The Office at 9:30PM. However, with the new year NBC moved My Name Is Earl and The Office to Thursdays so TV night hasn’t been all that huge of an event, but I don’t actually care that much because The Gilmore Girls is pretty lame and has horrible acting.

Anyway, this past Thursday, Yaeka’s knitting night with some other folks ran extra long and I totally forgot it was Thursday; My entire sense of what day it was went out the window by having Monday off. 10PM rolled around and I yelled “Damn it! We missed TV night!” Not until this morning did I decide to use my awesome computer/internet skills to get this weeks shows, but we watched the episodes (not Gilmore Girls which Yaeka missed for our game playing this past Tuesday) and they were awesome as always. This isn’t actually anything worth sharing, but I am anyway.

So yeah, if you actually did miss The Office and wished you could legally watch it later, here’s a link for you:

New Stereo Receiver

Saturday, January 14th, 2006

So way back in September I talked about how I needed a new receiver and then bitched about the Sony one. Well I’m still pissed about Sony and their whole DRM/rootkit fiasco so even if I did like that product I still wouldn’t buy it. Now looking back on my original point of contention it just seems to be another string in their anti-consumer mindset.

So this brings us to the current receiver on my mind. The Harmon Kardon HK3480. Unlike the Sony model and pretty much everything else out there, this is really designed with music in mind and not a home theatre. It doesn’t have 5.1 surround, just good support for stereo speakers like my awesome Bose ones. It also has a phono preamp and input so I wouldn’t have to buy one for my turntable which is also a bit point for me as well.

Yaeka and I are going to Portland tomorrow so I’m going to see if I can find it anywhere for a better deal than Amazon (think no sales tax), but chances are I’ll be ordering it first thing Monday night.

High Fives

So I’ve got this line from a song stuck in my head. I’m looking to you for help identifying it. The line is “High fives all around”. It’s probably a WRCU-era song.

Kitty Haters Need Not Apply

Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006

Found this article on Boing Boing about a cat that dialed 911 and saved its owners life! And Yaeka thinks her cat is cool for rolling over and shaking! Next thing to teach: save my life! Now I wonder if our cat would do that without a treat…
