Chat rooms could face expulsion | CNET News.com

Seriously, congressman need to get some people to explain to them that the internet isn’t a series of tubes and that pretty much every website has a “social” element to them these days.

Now Available - The Pitchfork Report

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

Yaeka and I are doing a new podcast called The Pitchfork Report and just wrapped up putting out the second one. I think we’ve managed to make pretty big strides on this one greatly improving over yesterday’s release that saw some understandable criticism.

Check it out at pitchforkreport.com and let me know what you think.

and I intend to play, damn it!

I really haven’t been using this blog that well. I’m not just talking about the fact that I post mainly stupid crap or not at all. Actually maybe better put, I haven’t been using this domain as well. Most people (aka dorks) have a spare domain that they use to try out new tricks and mess around with code and stuff and I haven’t really been doing that with this.

With the various projects I’m trying to get going, however, I’m running into a few questions here and there and stuff I’d like to try out. So this is a warning. This site my break or look ugly at times, but that’s just part of the test.

I was planning on using this new theme on my in development project The Pitchfork Report, but it had some serious issues so I scrapped it. This is a perfect place to test out whether the new release of the theme fixes the bugs or not though so if you find anything weird, let me know.

Phill and I have chosen not to get cable in our new place. So instead of watching trashy TV I have been making playlists.

The first one was for phill to go with the book I purchased for his birthday, Thurston Moore Mix Tape : The Art of Cassette Culture . Of course I had to put this mix on a tape rather than a cd. I found a mix tape made my his ex-girlfriend and had the very satisfying experience of recording over it. Its was totally heinous…it should had destroyed long ago.
the list:

Artist - Song - Album
Cat Power- Sea of Love – The Covers Record

Arling & Cameron – W.E.E.K.E.N.D – Music for Imaginary Films

The next mix was for a co-worker who accused me of only listing to “punk”. I don’t listen to too much punk but I guess she meant that its louder than what she prefers…So I made her the “Quite mix”. The list:

But I Don’t Wanna Go!

Sunday, July 2nd, 2006

To Blockbuster that is. You see, every Christmas season, I believe my relatives in Tennessee (not immediate family) go into a scramble trying to figure out what to get me. This usually leads to me getting shirts I can swim in or socks or occasionally, some cool stuff. My uncle always does very well, last year he got me a really slick Case pocket knife.

Anyway, a while ago I got a $10 Blockbuster gift card. I had been meaning to re-gift it actually, but I keep a messy desk and the thing always got misplaced. So now that I’m unpacking boxes at my new house - need to post about this later - I finally found the card again. Yaeka and I took a walk around town today and happened to pass a Blockbuster. I decided right now, at 2:25am to call the number on the back that is for balance inquiries. Well I call the number and it says, “For Terms and Conditions Press 1, for balance inquiries press please visit your nearest Blockbuster location.”

I understand that no one wants to go to your stupid stores any more and you need to come up with anyway for people to go, but give me a damn break! I just want to know my balance. Seriously, make the phone number work or put it up on the website or something. I only want to go if I have a balance left after all this time and that’s it. It’s really not a big deal since I’ll probably walk over in that area again, but it’s still really annoying. So annoying I had to blog about it. I think I’ll email them a complaint.
